Examining the prevalence of multiple long term conditions in England's Prison Service
|
Edge Hill University |
This project aims to understand the health needs and healthcare experiences of ex-prisoners in Cheshire and Merseyside, a medically underserved population with high rates of multimorbidity, mental health conditions, and social disadvantage. The findings will inform service planning, continuity of care, and targeted interventions to reduce health inequalities for people with custodial histories, with aggregated outputs shared with the Cheshire and Merseyside ICB, local commissioners, and published in BMJ Open. Patient and public involvement, including ex-offenders, will guide methods, interpretation, and dissemination. |
